Wondrous Journeys

Project Description
3D & Motion Design for Disneyland’s 100th Anniversary nighttime spectacular, Wondrous Journeys. This multi-location experience combines state-of-the-art projection mapping, pyrotechnics, animatronics, and a symphonic music score to celebrate 100 years of the Walt Disney Animation Studio.

I brought five projection-mapped surfaces to life with 3D animations and animation assets provided by the Walt Disney Archives. Over the course of the project I worked on multiple scenes and surfaces, following direction from Mousetrappe’s creative team and Disney Live Entertainment. One of our greatest challenges was properly celebrating all 62 Disney animated films, and placing references to the films in the proper context. The show features 18 different Disney songs, and the projection environments reflect the mood and story of the soundtrack.

Wondrous Journeys takes place in four locations: Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street USA, It’s a Small World, and Rivers of America. Each location has a custom-made version of the show built into the environment.
